Ayaz Sadiq chairs the NA's opposition session, overturning Qasim Suri's decision on no confidence vote.


 Opposition groups called on Sunday to convene a special session of the National Assembly.


Former Speaker and Leader of the PML-N, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, presided over the meeting as Speaker, while Murtaza Javed Abbasi announced the chairmanship.


At the start of the session, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif addressed the NA session of the opposition parties.


The secretary-general of the National Assembly turned off the microphones of the lower house.


Spoken speaker Ayaz Sadiq issued his decision challenging the decision of Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri during his tenure as Speaker.


The symbolic speaker when rejecting Qasim Suri's decision said it was unconstitutional.


Earlier, opposition hopes of overthrowing the prime minister were dashed after Deputy Speaker of Parliament Qasim Suri rejected a motion of no confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan, calling it Article 5 of the Constitution.


Shortly after the start of the meeting, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry stated that loyalty to the government is a fundamental responsibility of every citizen under Article 5.


"On March 7, our official ambassador was invited to a meeting attended by foreign diplomats. The meeting was informed that a motion had been tabled against Prime Minister Imran," Fawad Chaudhry said.


"We were told that relations with Pakistan depended on the success of the no-confidence motion. We were told that if the proposal did not work out, Pakistan's future would be very difficult. This is a coup d'etat."


Fawad Chaudhry asked how this could be allowed and asked the Deputy Speaker to decide on the constitutionality of the no-confidence motion.


"No foreign country has the right to overthrow the elected government in Pakistan. The points raised by the minister of justice are justified, therefore, I conclude that this distrust proposal is unconstitutional. In terms of the code of conduct, the proposal is still being rejected, ”the Deputy Speaker announced.
