The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will continue to support Pakistan "once a new government is formed" in the country.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday said there was "no sense of suspension" in its plans and that it would continue to support Pakistan and join "once a new government is formed" in the country.

The Washington-based lender's statement comes amid political turmoil in the country, especially after the dissolution of President Dr. Arif Alvi by the national assembly following the withdrawal of distrust of Prime Minister Imran Khan that day.

According to an IMF-Pakistani spokesman, the Fund will engage in policies "to promote greater economic stability and inquire about the intentions of the program" with the new government.

Following the Fund's announcement, the Treasury also released a media report stating that the Ministry of Finance and the IMF were involved in data sharing and restructuring talks as part of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF).

"There is no truth in speculation about [the] suspension of the [IMF] program. The IMF has confirmed the same and clarified that it is still committed to the stabilization of Pakistan's largest economy," added a press release.

The IMF has expressed doubts about the government's recently announced amnesty program and shared skepticism about the financial and financial resources of the prime minister on electricity and fuel prices.
